Volunteering with The Arts Society Southampton

This work was led by our volunteering organiser,  Ez Kennedy and we are looking for a new Volunteering Co-ordinator so we can start volunteering activities again.   

The City’s Maritime & Local Collections Centre holds a large collection of items & epherma relating to the City and  Maritime History. For some time now a group of volunteers from our society have been meeting monthly on Wednesday monrnings to sort & catalogue  many of these items to create an online record. The exhibtion Southampton Stories at SeaCity Museum shows some of the work of our volunteers and tells their own personal stories. Volunteers helping at the Collections Centre receive free admission at the Seacity Museum and Tudor House & Garden.

In 2020 a group of  volunteers supported Southampton City Art Gallery over five days at its exhibition at the prestigious London Art Fair learning about the works on display and giving individual and group tours. The society was given a runner up award by the Marsh Christian Trust for this work.
